Just got a trial version of iG 4.0. Put in DVD after connecting my Verizon Touch. Install choices were to PC or to UMPC. No way to install to Pocket PC. I tried 2-3 times after restarting even. No go. So tried to move the files directly to memory card from the DVD. 50 minutes later, hardly any movement on the install bar. So I gave up; waiting to hear from tech support if they have any great ideas.

Looks like it'll be OnCourse Navigator for me. Problem with Garmin is that their card for Europe is awfully expensive. But OCN-8 is just round the corner, I believe...no point buying OCN-6 at this point. Its early May 08.

Addendum: Realized later that the trial version is NOT for a handheld!!! Only for a laptop/desktop and UMPC. I went ahead and installed on my laptop, and connected BT-20 bluetooth GPS from Delorme. iG took about 15 seconds to load from DVD. Maybe because its a trial version, I didn't see a way to full run from hard drive. Routing ability was fast. Location was accurate. Searching for a POI, I found that if I found a particular restaurant and wanted to see its map location, then wanted to find some other, I had to X out to the very start of the search rather than back to restaurants alphabetical list. That's a pain. The health and medical POI list did not have pharmacies. Too bad....one thing I sometimes needs while traveling is a pharmacy. In ONC-6 you have a qwerty type screen keyboard, whereas in iG its an A to Z keyboard, which is not as convenient or fast. All said and done, the main advantage with this program is that you can install to your laptop *and* PDA which is economical; Garmin and OCN are *only* to PDA. But aside from that, I plan to wait to buy OCN-8 to be released mid-May.

Addendum 2: Once I transferred the program on to the hard drive, it ran fast. No lag or delay. Except I could not find pharmacies it seemed to be quite an OK program....well, the laptop anyhow. Too bad I could not evaluate it on the PDA. I wonder if a map and program update are due in the next month or two.
