Star [*] Presently what is better chipset: MTK or SiRFIII

I need to use GPS for mainly city roads, many a times in dense skyscrapper jungle of downtowns, both on foot and car, Plus a little offroad explorations. Given that, what would be a better bluetooth GPS receiver for me: one with a SiRFIII chipset or MTK.
I have been reading lot of reviews recently. Almost all claim MTK having better fix in terms of number of satellites and less "multipath" problem and longer battery life per charge than SiRFIII chipset. MTK is claimed to have kept fix even in basements and dense city downtowns where SiRF could not. But they also say SiRFIII is better when walking on foot. Some of these reviews were many months old. I dont know whats current with these chipsets.

Could you please recommend whats better for my needs today and probably recommend a specific product.

    Thanks for your help guys.

Re: Presently what is better chipset: MTK or SiRFIII

The differences between the two (SiRF StarIII and MTK 51 channels-latest) chipsets are very small and honestly, a fix time of MTK is about 10 seconds quicker on average compare to SiRF StarIII.

However, after both chipsets have obtained their first fix, subsequent GPS fix will be about the same between the 2.

They are all good units and you could go by either our Top 5 best sellers Bluetooth GPS (click here) or browse our Bluetooth GPS (click here) category for the best looking one or decide by user ratings.

    Hope this helps.
