Garmin Mobile 10 Vs OCN 6

    Locked Reply Contact

    Hey all

I am doing this for Windows Mobile 5 Smart Phones (Mine is Treo 750 by ATT).

Heres what I got so far. You are welcome to correct me, since I'm a total noob.

Price Point    - OCN better by a lil

Set-Up    - Garmin  gives choice of loading maps you only need. OCN doesnt

Features    - If you have data plan, you can get traffic updates with Garmin, OCN doesnt

Reputation    - At least to me, Garmin has been in business a lot longer than OCN.

Please chime in if you guys know more.

These are final 2 bundles I am looking at for my Treo 750.

If theres an article on this comparison, please post here.

    thanks

Re: Garmin Mobile 10 Vs OCN 6

    Thanks for your post.

    1) Set-up: Actually, in OCN6, you could remove maps you do not need to free up more space and later re-copy them to the "OnCourse\Maps" folder if you needed them. Each map is named after a state's name and all the maps file will be "connected" automatically the next time you load them vs. you have to use Map Source to create and export the maps each time in Garmin Mobile 10 (GM10)

    2) Features: You are absolutely correct on the live updates for GM10 but one thing that customers may not like about GM10 is that you could not scroll or drag the map. Without this feature, you could not find out visually the POIs icons (Gas, Restaurants, etc) on the map.

    3) Price for additional maps: GM10 charges like $299 for Western European maps vs. $165.00 for OCN6. So, if you ever need to go to Europe, you should also consider this point.

    Hope this helps.
