New Qstarz BT-Q818 bluetooth GPS receiver

    Hi,

Was wondering if and when you will start offering the new Qstarz BT-Q818 bluetooth GPS receiver based on the MTK chipset.  Please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for your post. We do not have plans to carry this model as it is a rebranded version of the i-Blue PS-737 which we have offer since months ago:

That is incorrect, Qstarz BT-Q818 is not a rebranded version of iBlue 737.  The model Qstarz BT-Q810 is the rebranded version of the iBlue 737.  The Qstarz BT-Q818 is a newer model that has longer battery life as well as faster access time.  Well I guess you guys will not be carrying it, until Transystem GPS rebrand the new Qstarz BT-Q818 as some iBlue model.

Just a FYI, GPSPassion will be reviewing this new Qstarz BT-Q818 model soon at:  http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=75868 .

It's too early to tell that the BT-Q818 realy uses a new firmware version of the MTK chipset than the i-Blue PS-737. GPSpassion carefully used the word of "it's possible that..." in his statement: "It's possible that it uses a new version of the MTK chipset"

Performance is also exactly the same if you look at the technical specs on the Time-To-First-Fix.

Per our feedback from the manufacturer of i-Blue, the BT-Q818 uses the same MTK firmware version as the i-Blue PS-737 and the battery operation time on it has been extended by using a slightly larger battery capacity.

We will keep following up with i-Blue on this issue and if they is really a new firmware version available from MTK, we will update this topic.

    Thanks.
