Globalsat BT-338 trouble turning on while cold

Globalsat BT-338, 2 years old, from first revisions... I've got the following problem: when the GPS is cooled for +5-10C (accumulator is disconnected for the experiment clearance), then I connect them both but I could not turn in on. After pressing power on button I got steady green light for 1-1,5 seconds, and then I goes off. If I connect external power supply it turns on normally, and even after I disconnect external power it works fine on internal accumulator.

After the GPS is heated to the room temperature, it began to turn on normally from internal accumulator.

I suppose smthing is wrong with the internal wiring, may be it is possible to solve by soldering?

Hi, what is an "internal accumulator."? Please explain.

Battery packs do not perform well under extreme cold or hot temperature. Leaving the battery pack under extreme temperature will also shortern the life span of it.

Please DO NOT leave the unit + battery pack inside of your car for extended period of time, instead bring it with you and store it in room temperature.

Re: Globalsat BT-338 trouble turning on while cold

I ment that battery pack was removed from device while the device was cooled down.

My testing showed that the problem is with the D9 (diode) near the battery connector, here its photo:

When it is cooled, it has the higher resistance than when it is warmed up.

My be someone could share  scheme of the BT-338, so I could get the parameters of this diode and find the replacement?
