    Holux M-241 with Palm TX

Hi, first, I want to congratulate you for your site, its great and very usefull.

Now. I have a Palm TX and want to buy the Holux M-241 to navigate on it, this would be the main use.

I want too log some bicycle / by foot trips and I need to use to GeoTagging some photos this is the main reason why I choosed the Holux M-241 (and is very usefull read the LCD info when i don't carry the Palm).

Can you tell me please if this is a good choice or I have to change my mind.

     Thanks a lot in advance.

    Best Regards.

    Marcelo from Argentina.

Re: Holux M-241 with Palm TX

Hi Marcelo, welcome and thanks for your compliments.

Yes, the Holux M-241 works with your TX for navigation. As long as you have a Windows XP/Vista (32-bit, limited support on the 64-bit version), you could install the USB Driver on your laptop/PC, then install the Data Logger utility to download the log file/ to GeoTag your photos.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response. I´ve just made my choice.

    A couple more questions.

Did you make a Review or something about  Holux M-241 equipment (I´ve seen others) I want to know BuyGpsow opinion.

Can I turn Off the Bluetooth function when not connected to the PDA to increase battery life?

     Many thanks.

     Marcelo.

Marcelo, sorry but we have not done a review on M-241. No, the Bluetooth radio on the M-241 is always ON.

I've read on some forum that with new firmware for Holux m241 it become possible to disable bluetooth.

Re: Holux M-241 with Palm TX

Hi Denis, I bought a Holux M-241 and update the firmware successfully (was 1.0 and now is 1.1) the only offical update (until now), you can download it from Holux site.

You can NOT disable the bluetooth with this firmware release. Perhaps It was a non documented feature, but i don't know.

Now with your question I´ll search for this info in some forums too, If I can find something, I´ll tell you.

    Regards.

    Marcelo

Re: Holux M-241 with Palm TX

Thanks Boogie, I don't own M-241 yet, just considering it.

Can you tell how do you like it's overall performance, and does it loose signal frequently and so on?

And wonder if it able to create separate tracks, e.g. when I turn off and turn on device, would it create separate file or add everything to single one?

Regarding possibility to disable bluetooth, I didn't find a way to link to thread so here is link to quote, person writing that it's disabled by default:

So I'm looking forward to hear from you if you can confirm that it could be disabled or not.

Re: Holux M-241 with Palm TX

We will make a request but cannot promise if they would be implemented or even possible based on the current architecture design of the M-241

Re: Holux M-241 with Palm TX

     Thanks, that's much appreciated!

And I'm perfectly understand that sometimes it's may be not possible or not worth to implement certain feature.

But I think if it's implemented it could boost device working time a bit which make it more interesting for people to choose.
