Less Choices for PDA GPS software

    Hi,

http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=110722&whichpage=2 is a link to posts over at gpspassion, which seems to strongly indicate that TomTom might be phasing out of the PDA software business. Goodness, I didn't know people were pirating GPS software. I guess I'm one of those innocent ignorant duds. Now I'm concerned about the fact that TomTom has bought up TeleAtlas maps, so I wonder if the future of OnCourse Navigator is in doubt because they use TeleAtlas maps. That about leaves Garmin, iGuidance and CoPilot as the only other choices. iGuidance has not had new maps in a year, but Garmin is to release new maps for its Mobile XT in 2 weeks. OCN-8 is due out early June. (they've been saying "in two weeks" for a couple of months and more now).

I think I'll take my chances and buy OCN-8 when it is released. 4 GB gives 2 GB to spare which is plenty for MP3s and photos. GlobalSat's 368i seems like a terrific GPS puck. I have a Delorme BT-20 but its kind of fat and big by today's standards.

    Hi Roger,

Thanks for your post. Honestly, the impact is Zero.

TeleAtlas will continue to supply maps to all their current partners and this event does NOT mean all TomTom's competitors will no longer get to buy maps from TeleAtlas.

whoa.....did you mean "does not mean" all TomTom's competitors will no longer get to buy maps???? I believe you meant that TeleAtlas will continue to do business as usual?? Thx
