Holux M-1000 + MacBook with Leopard Mac OS

    Hello,

I've been trying to connect my Holux M-1000 to my Macbook via the bluetooth.
The device has been paired successfully, but I haven't been able to make it connect to the laptop.
The blue light is still blinking at about 1 sec interval (should be about 3 sec if the device is connected).

Has anybody connected their M-1000 to a macbook? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

How far did you go in terms of pairing it up?

Were you prompted for a passkey during the pairing process?

If yes, did you enter 0000?

If yes, did you receive a confirmation that "SPP" or "Serial Port Protocol" is discovered?

and what GPS software are you using to connect to the receiver?

hello, thanks for your quick reply!! really appreciate it.

you're in chino hills?? that's really close to where i live.. :)

Back to your quesions, i went as far as setting it to Protocol: RS-232 and Service: SPP Slave
in the bluetooth preference when editing the serial port. And yes, I entered 0000. The GPS software i'm
using is the MS Strees & Trip 2007 inside a Parallel software to run Windows XP. I'm using the following
guide to add the serial port to Parallel:
    http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-63668.html

Anyways, the "Connected" field in the bluetooth preference box is always set to "No" for the Holux, even tho
they're paired up successfully and the holux is turned on.

    Any ideas?  Thanks again..

Thanks for your post. I do not have a MAC OS to reproduce the steps but I want to make sure you did the following correctly on Step 10:

Serial Port: What is the device name you use here and how did you get it?
Baud Rate: 4800 (and not 9600)

The name of the serial port is :
    HOLUX_M-1000-SPPslave-1

That's the name given in the bluetooth config box.
I've also set the baud rate to 4800, and still could not connect.

Btw, is there a gps map software that runs on a mac?

    Thanks

Sorry but I ran out of ideas. I suggest you validate this GPS with a regular Windows XP or Vista or even a Bluetooth enabled Microsoft WM5 / 6 device. If it is tested to be working well, then, there is a problem passing the GPS data stream thru from Mac(host) to your virtual OS.
