    Holux-M1000 with Streets & Trips 2006 on Dell Axim30

     Hi

I just bought Holux-M1000 to use with Pocket Street (Streets & Trips 2006). To begin with, I'm pretty new to this GPS system, so I need your help to install the software and map to my PDA (Dell Axim30). Looks like I've installed Street Pocket on the PDA, but couldn't run it. I also have the map on a 2GB SD card, but what I did was just copy the contents from the software disc to the SD card. So this was properly the incorrect way to do it. I've also done the steps to pair the PDA with the Holux-M1000 to the point where I can see how many satellite I got and stuffs. However, when I tried to run the Street Pocket program, nothing happen. So again, these stuff are really new to me so I really need your help to set this up. Thanks in advance!

BTW, I heard that Streets & Trips wont do routing. Is this correct? If so, which navigation software is best to run on Dell Axim30 with Holux-M1000. Sorry for my broken English :)

P.S> Please include all the neccessary steps, as much details as possible. Thanks

    Here are the steps:

    1) During the installation of Microsoft Pocket ST 2006, you will need to select "Pocket ST 2006" otherwise only the PC version installed. Then when you next sync up your PDA with your PC, Pocket ST 2006 will be installed automatically to your device.

    2) Copy maps. Make sure your device is connected to your PC via Microsoft ActiveSync, launch ST on your PC, use your mouse to highlight an area of your choice and select Tools | Export Maps for Pocket Streets. Follow the instruction to complete the map building process.

    3) Once done, copy the map file, usually ending with ".mps" extension to your memory card.

    4) Go to your PDA, use File Explorer to locate the file that you just copied over and tap on it once to launch the Pocket Street and Trips. This will open up the map automatically.

    5) If you have not pair up your Bluetooth GPS yet, please do so by following the instruction here:

    http://www.buygpsnow.com/files/Bluetooth_UserManual.docVer1.01.pdf

NOTE: For devices running WM5, please see this pairing instruction instead: http://www.buygpsnow.com/support/issue_view.asp?ID=3038

    6) Once done, tap on Menu | GPS | Configure Receiver | tap on one of the COM Ports, most likely COM 8 or your Outgoing COM Port configured for WM5. Tap on the OK on the upper right hand corner to accept the setting.

    7) Then, tap on Menu | GPS | Start.

If COM 8 does not work, re-select another com port. If it works, you should see a circle with an arrow inside of it that indicates your real-time position on the map.

You should be all set. If you are stuck, please let us know which steps are problematic.

BTW, Pocket ST 2006 does provide route and it only shows your position on a moving maps.

For voice and visual turn-by-turn driving direction, you should consider full blown GPS application such as OCN6, iGuidancd 3, or Odyssey.

Followed your instructions and finally got it to work with ST 2006, but it doesn't provide turn-by-turn driving directions. Now I'm considering to get one of the 3 nav. softwares you've recommended.  Thanks a bunch for your help.

I only need basic routing with driving directions. And without spending too much, Street Atlas 2007 seems to fit the bill. Would it do the trick? Any suggestion?
