Ok...I found my device code and activated my maps....now i have a much worse problem. TomTom 6 does not reconize any gps reciever on my Pharos 525e. I talked to Pharos and they said there is a gps device on there. I tried to configure it on TomTom with no luck. It either says "no gps device" or "no valid gps signal"......dont know what to do.

Re: Where do I find my device code??

    - Launch TomTom Navigator

    - Choose Agree

    - Tap on screen to bring up options

    - Choose Change preferences

    - Tab over several screen until you see show GPS Status

    - Then choose Configure

On this screen, make sure the picture shows Other Bluetooth GPS/TomTom Wireless GPS. If it doesn't, you can use the arrows on either side of the picture to browse through the selections.

Once Other Bluetooth GPS/TomTom Wireless GPS is shown, choose Select and on the next screen, you will be asked to select the GPS COM Port. It should be COM 1 or 2 on your 525e. If you are not sure, please let us know the complete list of options on this page and we will help you to decide.

Once you have selected one of the COM ports, tap DONE and this will bring you back to the GPS Status screen. On the top left there may be some small black text that may say No GPS Device! or No Valid GPS Signal.

If it says No Valid GPS Signal the GPS Receiver and PDA are communicating properly and both will need to be placed outside temporary to have access to a clear sky view in order to get a GPS Signal.

Re: NO GPS DEVICE PHAROS 525??

    I have a pharos525 and installed TT6.

installation and everything seems fine except it say's No GPS DEVICE.

I tried using ce monitor to make sure internal gps is working and it shows

it is working fine. I have tried choosing all the options TT6 lets you choose from and I even tried all the different baud rates and com ports for the ones that let me:

    other bluetooth receiver

    other nmea gps

    tomtom bluetooth

    tomtom wired

    COM PORT OPTIONS ARE

    COM3: S2410 COM0

    GPS ON COM4 S2410 IRDA2410

    any suggestions?

Re: NO GPS DEVICE PHAROS 525??

Configure the GPS setting inside TT6 as "Other Bluetooth GPS" and then COM4. You must shut down CE monitor it will block the GPS COM Port (com 4) from being accessed by TT6.

To be 100% sure, perform a soft reset (reboot) and just go straight to launch TT6. DO NOT run CE Monitor at the same time when TT6 is running.

Re: NO GPS DEVICE PHAROS 525??

I recently purchased a Pharos 525 and downloaded the CE Monitor to try to get it to work with the version of S&T which came with this GPS.  Now not only does it not work with S&T but I can't get Ostia to work anymore.  Can someone please post the default settings Ostia expects?  I've tried Sirf COM4 9600B,19200B, 38400B, NMEA COM4 9600, as well as rebooting at different points, but Ostia keeps complaining that there is "No GPS Signal. Please check GPS connections"

Thanks in advance.  The Ostia software does have its issues, but at this point its better than nothing.

Re: NO GPS DEVICE PHAROS 525??

You do NOT need CE Monitor to make S&T work. The concept is you should NOT run two GPS software at the same time. Running CE Monitor will block the GPS COM Port from S&T.

So, your best bet is to uninstall or exit CE Monitor prior to running S&T.

Re: NO GPS DEVICE PHAROS 525??

I believe CE Monitor actually does re-configure something, since I have tried uninstalling CE Monitor and then resetting the device, but when I launch Ostia it still complains that there is "No GPS Signal. Please check GPS connections.   I believe I need to use CE Monitor to re-configure my device back to the default factory settings which Ostia expects, namely SIRF instead of NMEA, but I can't seem to remember what the exact settings were.  I have no interest in running S&T at this time, I just want Ostia to work again.  I used Ostia successfuly on a recent trip around the US and Canada, but wanted to try out S&T because Ostia does not currently have maps for an upcoming trip to Mexico.

    Thanks for you help!

Re: NO GPS DEVICE PHAROS 525??

The best way is to perform a hard-reset on your Pharos so that everything is being reset back to factory setting, then you could re-install Pharos Ostia software.

If you are unable to perform a hard reset, please contact Pharos for support.

WARNING: DO NOT USE CE Monitor to tweak your GPS setting. You will not gain any BENEFITS for changing the GPS protocol from SiRF to NMEA! Worst, it renders all NMEA compatible GPS apps you have useless.

BTW, the information about using CE Monitor with S&T on a Pharos 525 was gleamed from this thread:   http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=50850

I posted my issue there as well, but am still awaiting a response.

Re: NO GPS DEVICE PHAROS 525??

Thanks.  I read somewhere that simply removing the battery will reset the GPS settings whereas performing the hard reset will force you to re-install the software.  I simply removed the battery and Ostia is now working for me again :-)

Thanks for you help.  One of these days, I may try again to get pocket S&T working on this device but not today.....
