I started using iNav primarily because you could select which maps you could store on your SD card thereby reducing it's footprint.  I however was never fond of the interface.  I've since upgraded to the latest version, which no longer gives you the option to select which maps you need.  And the interface hasn't really changed all that much. OCN 8 definitely seems to have a  better interface, as long as the interface doesn't impede performance, it maybe a winner. Looking forward to seeing more...

hmmm...works only on the original 2 GB SD card? So you have to swap SD cards every time you need to use navigation? Not sure how that works for some people, but that would NOT work for me.

September 30, 2008 11:19 AM

SalesTeam said:

In response to jeffx: The giveaway is only for 2GB card but you may purchase the 4GB or 8GB microSDHC versions. Smile

This way to the category page of OCN 8 and you will find all 3 versions there: www.buygpsnow.com/oncourse-navigator_64.aspx

(FYI: Larger memory cards have the same maps and program features but they do have more free space.)

I bought the OCN6 4GB microcard and can't wait to use it. Unfortunately, at the time I received the OCN6, my PDA mfg has not updated the ROM to support the SDHC.  So I changed to TomTom Navigator!  I have to say, I am pretty disappointed with the software. Comparing it to Mapopolis, which is not extinct, TTS is no where near the capacity.  Except for the 3D graphics, the program lacks many common POI's such as Home Depot, Office Depot, etc. Now that I have the ROM update for my PDA, I am saving money for the 8GB microcard version... sound very appealing to me!

I've been using TomTom Navigator 6 for the last year then Navigator 5 before that and I'm getting disappointed that TomTom is not supporting this product anymore so I figured it was time for a change.  So I really hope this compares.   I just ordered my 2 GB version.

What do you guys think comparing this to TomTom Navigator 6?

I had originally selected OCN when I was looking for a GPS navigation program for my PocketPC, but it was not available at that time. I ended up purchasing iGuidance, and I am very happy with this product (most of the time). I would be interested in a comparison between the two. I am NOT interested in eye candy -- I never use the 3D mode and prefer a simple 2D map. Routing and accuracy are more important to me, although I also have come to depend on TTS. The TTS in iGuidance is sometimes amusing (it seems to have problems with Spanish, and we have a lot of that in Southern California). It would be interesting to know how good the OCN TTS is.

I've used OCN on a Dell Axim since ... Version 4, I think.  Recently bought a Garmin Nuvi just to get a brighter screen display, but find I really miss the *depth* of the OCN product, especially the ability to construct and optimize routes with many waypoints, store POIs in user-created folders, etc.  Very much looking forward to OCN8.  Back to momma.

Hi. I'm entering the contest!

I have a question though:

I've read that some builds of IGO 8 will not launch you use HTC home. The newest build of IGO 8 has resolved this issue. Can we expect the current build of OCN 8 to work as well?

Thanks! Hope to win!!!

I have been an OnCourse 6 user for a couple of years and, before that, a Destinator 3 user.  I think the new OnCourse 8 has much promise to which I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.

Since I have a Dell Axim x51v, I would upgrade it to 128mb of ram as well using http://www.pocketpctechs.com so that I could use the text to speech features.  I am a gadget geek at heart and would use every feature this gps has to offer.
